Q&A with Characters from Great Expectations

Objective: To engage students in an interactive discussion with the fictional characters from Great Expectations, deepening their understanding of the novel and developing their critical thinking, empathy, and communication skills.

Duration: 30 minutes

Materials: Copies of Great Expectations, ChatBooks platform for students to communicate with the characters (e.g., role-playing with the teacher and/or peers), a projector or whiteboard to display questions and responses.

Lesson Outline:

  1. Introduction (2 minutes)

      • Briefly introduce the activity and its objectives.
      • Explain the format of the Q&A session and the expected behaviour of the students.

  2. Warm-up Activity (3 minutes)

      • Divide students into pairs or small groups.
      • Have each group come up with one question they would like to ask a character from Great Expectations.

  3. Q&A Session (20 minutes)
